Heath Ceramics Selects Blue River for Online Redesign
[September 18, 2007] Sacramento, Calif. — Heath Ceramics, a leading icon of modern American design, has chosen Blue River Interactive Group to lead a complete redesign of the company’s existing website.
Based in Sausalito, Calif., Heath Ceramics is one of the nation’s few remaining mid-century potteries. Founded by Edith Heath in the 1940s, Heath Ceramics is internationally known for its signature hand-crafted tableware and tiles. The Northern California studio has been featured in magazines from Dwell to Sunset, with many of Edith Heath’s acclaimed pieces showcased in museums worldwide, including New York City’s Museum of Modern Art.

Like many organizations, Heath Ceramics’ needs had outgrown its website’s capacities. The choice facing the organization was to hold on to the original site and implement band-aid solutions along the way or to start over from the ground up with flexible new technology that would accommodate future growth.
“Blue River really helped us understand our options,” said Robin Petravic, Heath Ceramics’ co-owner. “They guided us through the pros and cons of various approaches, which helped us make the most informed decision possible.”
The revised website will showcase Heath’s products and company information, mirroring the artisan beauty and simplicity of the award-winning stoneware and tile produced by Heath Ceramics. The site’s completely revamped technology foundation will include a powerful eCommerce code base and Blue River’s Sava content management system, enabling Heath Ceramics to maintain and update its site in-house.
